Flutist Hiroaki Honshuku with Mark Kleinhaut at Spring Street Gallery

Innovative flutist and EWI player, Hiro brings his unique brand of Jazz to the Spring. He is virtuosic, unusual and lots of fun and he will be joined by his friend guitarist Mark Kleinhaut for an evening of spirited musical hijinks!

Hiro graduated simultaneously from Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory, where he studied with George Russell Jr. Since graduation, he has taught multiple levels of jazz theory and directed small and large jazz ensembles at New England Conservatory, jazz flute improvisation for grad study at Longy School of Music and computer science at The New England Institute of Art. Hiro has performed with Mike Stern, Dave Liebman, Mick Goodrick, Dave Weckl, Tiger Okoshi, Maria Schneider, and Tom McKinley, among others.
