The idea behind Between the Stations is simple: At every single concert, Austrian pianist David Six presents a new piano piece that has been inspired by and written at that very place. The result: music written in hotel rooms or at train stations, on planes or simply on stage. Pieces named after their place of origin.

By the end of this year, David Six seeks to have drawn a kind of musical-geographical map. Places of this year's tour like Paris, Teheran, New Delhi, New York, Nairobi, Berlin, Vienna, London or Shanghai are part of David Six’ sonic form of cartography.

Inspired by a constant momentum of traveling and the longing for a new challenge, the idea of composing Between The Stations was born. David also uses on-stage-composing methods, often including spontaneous ideas from his audience. Piano grand master Misha Alperin commented admiringly, "David’s sense for integration and organic unity of composition and improvisation is simply incredible!”...
