Decora:Poet
http://www.iamdecora.com/
Decora is a hip-hop artist from New York’s Hudson Valley, for whom art and progressive work are simply inseparable. As co-founder of the ReadNex Poetry Squad, Decora steered the group to HBO Latino; MTVu; radio stations, concerts and festivals, around the world. Now, as he launches a solo career, his influences are myriad - literature, music, theater, film, social activism and the numerous cultures he has experienced touring across the US, Europe and South America. Decora may approach his work communicating the vibe of Bob Dylan, Nina Simone or Kanye West.
In homage to one of his heroes and mentors, Pete Seeger, the patriarch of socially progressive music, Decora's first solo release, FLOWERS is a social commentary with a nod to the imagery and questioning message of Seeger's original, “Where Have All the Flowers Gone".
“...totally fearless when it comes to music....[at the Clearwater Festival] We definitely did the most exciting version of This Land Is Your Land I’ve ever played.”
- Tao Rodriguez Seeger (Grandson of Pete Seeger)
