Originally from Guapi, a small town in the forgotten Pacific region of Colomba, Diego Obregón comes from a centuries-old tradition of marimba music, whose roots trace back to West Africa. Evocative and provocative, the Tin Throat Ensemble reaches into the reservoir of folk and improvisational traditions, setting them aflame and distilling an intoxicating essence of psychedelic rhythms, maddeningly catchy melodies and outright fury. The chaos of life in a modern metropolis, the resulting longing for harmony, and the humor and playfulness necessary to navigate through it, are all evident in the Tin Throat Ensemble, led by guitarist and composer Alejandro Flórez.
