Originally from Guapi, a small town in the forgotten Pacific region of Colomba, Diego Obregón comes from a centuries-old tradition of marimba music, whose roots trace back to West Africa. A true virtuoso in his instrument, Obregón has made some groundbreaking contributions to his tradition by being the first to build marimbas with standard tuning, and by blending the traditional currulao rhythms with modern styles such as afro-cuban music. His first album, Pequeña Historia, is a masterpiece filled with love for his musical heritage, his ancestry and the beckoning of a far away homeland....
