John Voirol has made himself indispensable in the Swiss Jazz-Scene for a long time. This diehard musician, born in 1958, is, characteristically, simultaneously active in three to four first class bands as clarinetist, saxophonist and composer. His busy concert agenda permitting, John teaches at the Musikhochschule Luzern (Lucerne School of Music) or joins fellow musicians in the recording studio to experiment with the creation of the next CD.
John Voirol likes changes of rhythm – within tunes as well as within his musical career. He performed with the Vince Benedetti Big Band, with Catherina Valente, with Mr. Defunkt Joseph Bowie and explored the stages in Vienna, New York and Leverkusen. It goes without saying that he has also left a mark on countless musicals, including such endearing projects as “Jazz meets Bach”. John has also performed with his own ensemble, the “Extra Ensemble” and has led “John Voirol flow’n jazz” through many concert tours....
