Since the mid-1950s alto saxophonist and clarinetist Phil Woods has been one of the true masters of the bebop vocabulary. In turn, the Phil Woods Quintet has become one of the best and most beloved working groups in jazz. After more than 30 years, it still includes two original members, bassist Steve Gilmore and drummer Bill Goodwin.
