About
Right after sold-out, standing-ovation performances at the Umbria Jazz Festival and Sudtirol Jazz Festival in Italy, composer, arranger and bandoneon player par excellence, J.P. Jofre returns to New York City for his Le Poisson Rouge debut.
A winner of the National Prize of the Arts Grant in Argentina, ever since J.P. Jofre arrived in New York from his humble upbringing in Argentina, he has been repeatedly highlighted by the New York Times. Mr. Jofre has taken his form of contemporary tango to some of the most important venues in Asia, Europe, America and the Caribbean as soloist, composer and arranger. He has collaborated with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Paquito D' Rivera Sextet, Nina Beilina, Dartmouth Wind Symphony Orchestra, Westchester Jazz Orchestra San Juan National Symphony Orchestra, and I soloist di Perugia, among many others. Mr. Jofre has also received commissions from many festivals and orchestras such as the Umbria Jazz Festival, American Virtuosi, and Bachanalia Taiwan. J.P. Jofre's first CD features 11-times Grammy Winner Paquito D' Rivera, who recorded "Primavera", an original composition of Mr. Jofre.
